Omega Speedmaster Apollo Soyuz This `Omega Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch Apollo-Soyuz 35th Anniversary' is a rare limited edition of only 1975 pieces and is produced in 2018. It celebrates the historic Apollo-Soyuz space mission which was a first crewed international in-space meeting, carried out by the United States and the Soviet Union in July 1975.
What makes this Speedmaster truly special? First of all, the dial is a 'true moonwatch': it is made of slices of meteorite that give each watch a unique appearance. In 2010, Omega sourced a piece of the famous `Gibeon Meteorite'. The meteorite was cut into thin wafers to make the dials. The dials were then chemically treated to show the irregular structure of the meteorite, making each dial unique. Additionally, the case back features an engraving of the spacecraft and the names of the crew which makes it a true piece of space history. This Speedmaster symbolises international cooperation and innovation, making it an ideal choice for collectors and enthusiasts of rare timepieces. Our watch is as good as new and will come with original papers and an original watch box.
